Iceland has a low crime rate and serious crimes are very rare. The prisons are designed to rehabilitate people rather than punish them. The police has an emergency armed squad but normally the police is not carrying weapons.
Violence in homes are treated like any other crime, based on 100% gender equality and mutual respect. Gender equality is protected in Icelandic law, see here (in Icelandic) and women are pretty numerous in our parliament.
